‎Guitarist Freddie King rode to fame in the early '60s with a spate of catchy instrumentals which became instant bandstand fodder for fellow bluesmen and white rock bands alike. Employing a more down-home (thumb and finger picks) approach to the B.B. King single-string style of playing, King enjoyed. Available with an Apple Music subscription.

a lot people who overlook THIS king in favor of b.b. and albert are making a big mistake. freddie is beautifully showcased here in an excellent compilation. his instrumentals such as "hideaway", "the stumble", and my favorite, "san-ho-zay" will get you shucking and jiving. what sets freddie apart from a lot of the early blues guitarists is his tone. his tone is raw, crisp, and very biting /5(21).

When you first listen to Hide Away: The Best of Freddy King, skip over the rather annoying first track. "Country Boy" is a little too, well, country sounding for most serious blues fans, and it's easy to see why it was unreleased until this compiliation. and "I'm Tore Down," from the masterful From The Cradle disc released in ' In short.
